Enter your materials and the time a piece takes. You see the classic 2x/2x jewelry formula next to a price worked out from the margin you want after Etsy fees, so you can pick knowingly. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

2x/2x here means (materials + labor + overhead + packaging) × 2 = wholesale, then wholesale × 2 = retail. Some makers double materials only and add labor after; check which version your shop buyers expect.

How it works

Cost = materials + labor hours × rate + overhead + packaging. 2x/2x: wholesale = cost × 2, retail = wholesale × 2. Margin price = (cost + fixed fees) ÷ (1 − margin − % fees). Profit = price − cost − Etsy fees.

Worked example (the values above): 0.75 hours at $20 is $15.00 of labor, so the piece costs $9.50 + $15.00 + $1.50 + $1.00 = $27.00. The 2x/2x formula gives a $54.00 wholesale price and a $108.00 retail price; sold on Etsy at $108.00, fees are $108.00 × 9.5% + $0.45 = $10.71 and you keep $70.29 profit, a 65.1% margin. Pricing for a 50% margin instead gives ($27.00 + $0.45) ÷ (1 − 0.50 − 0.095) = $27.45 ÷ 0.405 = $67.78; fees are $6.89 and profit is $33.89, 50.0% of the price.

The 2x/2x price leaves room to sell wholesale later without losing money; the margin price is the lowest you can go and still hit your target online. See also the wholesale price calculator and all calculators.
