Wholesale price calculator for makers
Selling your handmade goods to shops and boutiques? Enter what one unit costs you and the margin you need, and see your wholesale price, the shelf price at the shop's margin and what a full order is worth. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
A 50% shop margin is keystone (the shop doubles your wholesale price). The wholesale price is rounded to the cent before the retail price and order totals are worked out. No marketplace fees here: wholesale orders are usually invoiced directly.
How it works
Cost = materials + labor + overhead + packaging. Wholesale = cost ÷ (1 − your margin). Retail = wholesale ÷ (1 − shop's margin). Order value = wholesale × units.
Worked example (the values above): $3.10 + $1.80 + $0.60 + $0.50 = $6.00 per unit. At a 45% margin your wholesale price is $6.00 ÷ 0.55 = $10.91, so you make $4.91 a unit. A shop working on a 50% margin shelves it at $10.91 ÷ 0.50 = $21.82 and keeps $10.91. An order of 24 units is worth $261.84 to you, with $117.84 profit.
Keep your own online price at or above the shop's shelf price ($21.82 here) so you never undercut your stockists. See also the jewelry 2x/2x comparison and all calculators.
