Free handmade pricing template (Excel / Numbers)
A small, free pricing spreadsheet for makers selling on Etsy, at markets or on their own site. Enter up to 10 materials (pack price, pack size and the amount one item uses), your batch size, labor time and hourly rate, packaging and overhead, then your target margin and selling fees. It shows the cost of one item and the price that leaves your target margin after fees.

One sheet, no macros, no sign-up. Excel format (.xlsx). We checked its formulas in Apple Numbers 14.2 and LibreOffice Calc against hand-worked test cases, including the example in the file. It has not been tested in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. The example fees in the file are illustrative: enter your own platform's current fees.
What's in it
- Product inputs: items per batch, labor minutes per batch, hourly rate, packaging per item, overhead per batch, target margin after fees, percentage selling fees and fixed fees per sale.
- 10 material lines: pack price ÷ pack size × amount per item (same unit), with a status that names any input to fix.
- Results: materials, labor, packaging and overhead per item, total cost per item, price for your target margin after fees, fees, profit and margin.
How it works
Cost per item = materials + labor minutes ÷ 60 × hourly rate ÷ items per batch + packaging + overhead ÷ items per batch. Price = (cost + fixed fees) ÷ (1 − target margin − percentage fees). Profit = price − cost − fees; margin = profit ÷ price. Fees here are charged on the item price only (no shipping charged).
Worked example in the file
The example is a fictional candle, not a suggested price: wax, fragrance, wick, jar and label come to $3.88 per candle; 90 minutes for a batch of 12 at $18 an hour is $2.25 of labor; packaging is $0.85 and $6 of overhead per batch is $0.50, so each candle costs $7.48. With 9.5% and $0.45 of example fees per sale, a 40% margin after fees needs a price of $15.70: fees are $1.94 and profit $6.28.
